hi. i'm shana, and i have a problem with food. well, maybe not food, so much as going out for food. well.. here's the thing. the boyfriend and i don't spend a lot of money going out. we don't go out to shows, or movies, or for drinks, or anything all that often. (and we work totally different schedules, which makes going out a little challenging!) when we do go out, we go out to eat. and we live in providence. there are a lot of options. we have good italian, indian, mexican, middle eastern.. sit-down places, take-out, food trucks.. i've been trying to cut down on my "going out to eat" spending, so i do a lot of groupon , livingsocial and restaurant.com sort of things. (it's okay if i give you my referral, right? i don't want to be rude.) still, i'm thinking we need to cut back. sigh. and with so many tasty baked goods to be had... but yeah. it's gotta be done. so, this month i must stick to my guns...

i seem to collect recipes. (i have a bookmarks folder.. with subfolders. yes.) some stuff we will be trying soon: canterbury potato leek soup . the boy is a big fan of leeks (of all things), so i will have to give this a try. pesto bucati with chicken and artichokes . i would put pesto on anything. almost. mattar paneer . so tasty, but i might sub for tofu. cool chinese vermicelli . i've never made a cold pasta dish before, and this sounds interesting... israeli moroccan couscous . we had a bunch of weird-ish canned goods passed on to us by my sister, including many cans of sweet potatoes. i've been looking for something to use them up with. parmesan roasted potatoes . potatoes and cheese, dude. nom. cauli-bean tacos . looks like a good way to hide vegetables. also a how-to for making tortillas. yay! salt and vinegar roasted chickpeas . mmm chickpeas. homemade oreos . and cookies of course. (i have a bit of a problem with cookies .)

mattar paneer , from manjula's kitchen 5 minute chocolate mug cake , from twinklyspangle (i am tempted to start it up now.. hmm) homemade oreos , from with sprinkles on top nutella-stuffed sugar cookies , from nibbledish spicy roasted cauliflour , from chez cayenne i have an entire folder of these in my bookmarks. we really need to get cooking over here...
